The Blog Project: Reflection

 The Blog Project: Reflection

Throughout this semester I have been learned lots of knowledge from WRA whatever blog, paper or in-class essay. When I chose this course beginning, I want to learn some new information for me like American women issue, literacy and American culture. At the end of this class, I think I am on my way to finish it. The blog has been an interesting assignment because it exposed me to a completely different form of writing than what I am used to. For example, I used to write sentiment after watched a movie and what I saw in my daily life related to women issue. I tried my best to understand it deeply. In my last blog, I will try my best to make a conclusion what I have got this semester, especially what I have learned from my blog.

A blog is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other via widgets on the blogs and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from other static website. The blog’s requirements in our class are so different to regular blogs. The topic of my blog is entirely up to me, but the entires must focus on women’s issues in some way. It is about my experiences, ideas; my respone to a TV show or moive; my reaction to an article, magazine, book, blog post and so on. Blogs are written more casual than a formal essay and the writer has a lot more freedom.   It is good that writing classes are developing a wider curriculum that includes newer forms of writing.  The expanded curriculums in writing classes help introduce students to forms of literacy. Especially in lower level writing courses, certain literacies may be more relevant to students than the traditional literacy taught.
Blog make our life colourful and meaningful. Why we choose personal blog? Blogging is sometimes viewed as a new, grassroots form of journalism and a way to shape democracy outside the mass media and conventional party politics. (Why We Blog) In personal blog, people can release their emotion in the writing and post their photos about sweet memory. In this fast step society, people need a way to relax and release trheirselves use the right way. There is a student in my class, her blog name was Women in the Real Word, it is all talk about women and analysis the women’s position. That is what she saw and felt about women of the personal thinking. We need blog and we learn from blog through watch others blog.

Blog and literacy has the completed relationship. In this semester, we discuss the four type of literacy, Multi-Genre Literacy Narrative, Disciplinary Literacy, Visual Literacy, culture literacy. Blog is related to this literacy. Blog’s development also drives technological development. When we use blog we cannot leave computer and technology. That is multi-genre literacy. If someone treat the blog for her/his part of life it is not just an entertainment suffer the internet. They write blog seriously and use as corporate and organizational blogs. The articles in their blog like academic writing and related to their major which is disciplinary literacy. If people take vedio of their happiness life and post on blog which is visual literacy. How about the culture literacy, people use blog or not it is related to their country’s culture. Someone can post their life pictures and articles on blog. Someone thought it is over privacy. As a conclusion, blog related to our life closely.

I think blog help me a lot. I am improving my writing skills and blog also gave me a lot of practice with writing for a large audience over the internet. It is healthy to openly express oneself, and I believe blogging is a great way to achieve this while simultaneously improving writing skills. Blogging can fix or better the reputation by allowing writers, students, and everyone else to enjoy literature.

Last Blog for this Semester

This is the last blog for my WRA class in this semester. I want to talk about high-heels for women.
The history of the high-heeled shoe, or a shoe whose heel is higher than the toe, is a matter of contentious and heated discussion. Shoes in general have typically served as markers of gender, class, race, and ethnicity—and both the foot and the shoe have been imbued with powerful phallic and fertility symbols as evidenced in the contemporary practice of tying shoes to a newlywed couple's car. No other shoe, however, has gestured toward leisure, sexuality, and sophistication as much as the high-heeled shoe. Fraught with contradiction, heels paradoxically inhibit movement in order to increase it, at least in appearance. Standing in heels, a woman presents herself already half-walking while at the same time reducing the length of her step, fostering the illusion of speed while suggesting an imminent fall. The higher and more unstable the heel, the more clearly these contradictions are expressed. Doctors and scholars alike have argued about the physical and cultural effects, both positive and negative, that heels have had not only on women, but on society as a whole.
When women wear high-heels, they looks more beautiful and sexy. That's a special production for women and almost women will choose it. it is not a ornament but a tasty for women. That's present fasion.

Cosmetics

Cosmetics are substances used to enhance the appearance or odor of the human body. Cosmetics include skin-care creams, lotions, powders, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail and toe nail polish, eye and facial makeup, towelettes, permanent waves, colored contact lenses, hair colors, hair sprays and gels, deodorants, hand sanitizer, baby products, bath oils, bubble baths, bath salts, butters and many other types of products. A subset of cosmetics is called "make-up," which refers primarily to colored products intended to alter the user’s appearance. Many manufacturers distinguish between decorative cosmetics and care cosmetics. The word cosmetics derives from the Greek κοσμητική τέχνη (kosmetikē tekhnē), meaning "technique of dress and ornament", from κοσμητικός (kosmētikos), "skilled in ordering or arranging" and that from κόσμος (kosmos), meaning amongst others "order" and "ornament".
The manufacture of cosmetics is currently dominated by a small number of multinational corporations that originated in the early 20th century, but the distribution and sale of cosmetics is spread among a wide range of different businesses. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which regulates cosmetics in the United States defines cosmetics as: "intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body's structure or functions." This broad definition includes, as well, any material intended for use as a component of a cosmetic product. The FDA specifically excludes soap from this category

Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the show, along with Steve Molaro, who is also one of the head writers. It premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007.
Set in Pasadena, California, the show is centered on five characters: two roommate Caltech geniuses, experimental physicist Leonard Hofstadter and theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper; their neighbor across the hall Penny, an attractive blonde waitress and aspiring actress; and Leonard's and Sheldon's equally geeky and socially awkward co-workers and friends Howard Wolowitz, an Aerospace engineer and a non-PhD from JPL, and Rajesh Koothrappali, a particle astrophysicist postdoc also working at Caltech. The geekiness and intellect of the four guys are contrasted for comic effect with Penny's social skills and common sense. Three other supporting characters have also been promoted to main cast status for a few episodes: Leslie Winkle, a Caltech colleague of Leonard, Sheldon, and Raj; Bernadette, a microbiology student who works with Penny part time as a waitress and has dated and recently has become engaged to Howard; and Amy Farrah Fowler, a neurobiologist who was hooked up with Sheldon via an online dating service (courtesy of Howard and Raj, who were later horrified when Amy turned out to essentially be a female version of Sheldon).
The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. In August 2009, the sitcom won the best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy. In 2010, the show won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Comedy, while Parsons won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series On January 16, 2011, Parsons was awarded a Golden Globe by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical, an award that was presented by co-star Kaley Cuoco.

The presentation about a writer

The presentation was about the female writer from Detroit. The books all about the life of people who between Negro and white man. She was born in Detroit, when she grew up her move to New York.
She introduced her books and read out the important dialog.
I knew each one should rely on herself/himself from this show. There are lots of difference between negro and white man. If you cannot change this truth you must follow this. No one can help you get out the trouble you just can rely on yourself.

Vampire Daires

The official site of The Vampire Diaries, Returning for its second season, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is the story of two vampire brothers obsessed with the same beautiful girl, and battling to control the fate of an entire town. During season one, Stefan (Paul Wesley, "Fallen") and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder, "Lost"), returned to their hometown of Mystic Falls, Virginia, for very different reasons - Stefan was determined to get to know Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev, the upcoming film, "The Killing Game"), who bears a striking resemblance to Katherine Pierce, the beautiful but ruthless vampire the brothers knew and loved in 1864, while Damon was intent on releasing Katherine from the tomb where he believed she was trapped by a witch's spell all those years ago.

Vampire Dairies is my favourite TV show. I want to introduce the main character Elena. I enjoy her character like she treat her friends honestly although sometimes she hidden some secret from her friends. That is because she wanted to protect her friends from danger. She is just look like the same as Katherine but they are totally different.

TV show-Ugly Betty

Betty Suarez is the model of the modern female in this day and age. She is a hero in my mind. It is not just a woman in TV show; it is a process of a woman how to be successful in her business.
Betty is not a beautiful woman with sexy figure but she wants to be editor in magazine. Actually, a woman with tooth socket and red frame glasses is not beautiful and cannot attract her boss’s eyesight. Her colleagues always look down her and jeer her fatty figure and appearance. But she never care about it and self-abasement, her smile make her look pride.
At the beginning, Betty’s boss Daniel Meade hated her and embarrassed her. Daniel once made an alliance with his camerist friend against Betty and let her drop the job. At finally, Betty through her hard-working and wisdom overcome Daniel. Daniel’s success also cannot get without Betty’s help. Betty’s experience showed that people can get what she want without charming appearance. Only the way is that we are proud of ourselves and we have positive attitude to the trouble then we can be successful.
In real life, I am not a beautiful girl sometimes I felt I am like an ugly duckling. I thought people always care about the first impression that depends on attractive appearance. But after follow the Betty’s step, I found the outward cannot decide someone’s accomplishment. Although my friends did not like me at first time, but when they notice my hard-working and empressement they would like to be my friends.

TV SHOW- gossip girl

I chase up this TV show Gossip Girl almost two years. It's all talk about people who live in east upside in Manhattan about their luxurious life, study, fashion, complicated love and relationship between friends and relatives. It's not just talk about women in America but women play vital role in this TV show. It reflects the real life about women in America I think.

At first Blair give me a depth impression because of her cute appearance looks like a princess. Actually, she is not just a princess who is taken care of by her friends and parents. She is not the outside express like her inside. She wants to be a business woman always and rely on her own ability. In my mind, woman should have soft outward appearance and strong inside. Blair never wants to rely on her famous designer mother to come up her dream. She desires to be successful through other one can confirm her social communication and knowledge. She looks like a princess but she has queen's wild ambition she never want to be a loser anymore.

Serena has her specific character for example she never need other people tell her which one is right which one is wrong. She will do it if she firmly believes that's right and does not care other one's thinking. Just on her way does not care others view. Her mettle will make her go to the wrong way but she think that's her own experience, she deserves it. She is brave to love and hate. Just do herself. In modern society, women should have the characteristic like this; have their own thinking never be controlled by men or other people.

Jenny just a little girl 16 years old was born in a media class family. But she never forgets to chase up her dreaming to climb to east upside surroundings. She is a brilliant girl and good at design and makes clothes. She always makes clothes for herself that’s the only dress. She wants to compare to Blair and Serena rely on herself. She wants to replace to Blair’s position and always devote to her dream. She is not self-abased because she is from poor area. She is always self-confident. Women should believe in theirselves cannot look down herself because she is not has good appearance and has poor family.
